North Thanet MP Sir Roger Gale has organised a “special day out” to Chessington World of Adventures for a local family who had missed out on a trip to Disneyland earlier in the year due to passport delays.

Sir Roger gifted the family a day out to a destination of their choosing after winning bacta’s annual seaside selfie competition. Bacta – the trade association for the amusement machine industry – organised the day out, with Chessington gifting the family tickets and vouchers for their trip.

Sir Roger took his winning entry outside Cain’s Amusements in Herne Bay, where he met the family and arcade owner David Cain before sending them on their day out.

Katie Smith said that despite Sir Roger’s best attempts to obtain her niece’s passport in time, the family ended up missing out on their trip to Disneyland. She said that through Sir Roger’s efforts the family “really felt how much everyone cared” and that they were “overwhelmed by the care and kindness shown” in being nominated for the day out.

Sir Roger Gale said “As a result of David Cain's support and BACTA's generosity we have been able to give a sorry story a happy ending and make one little lady's day. Huge thanks to all who made this possible.”
