Roger Gale places Charity Grand National bet at Ladbrokes Coral in Herne Bay

17th April 2018

Last Friday the Bay`s MP Sir Roger Gale visited the local Ladbrokes Coral shop in his constituency to place a £50 charity bet ahead of the Grand National.

The Grand National is the world's most famous steeplechase and is watched by an estimated 600 million people across 140 countries and it is estimated that around half the entire UK adult population place a bet on the race.

Sir Roger said:

“The Grand National is one of Britain`s historic sporting occasions when the whole nation comes together. I am not opposed to responsible betting on such events and I was pleased to visit a local shop today to meet the staff and see the general excitement amongst customers. I took Ladbrokes Coral up on their generous offer of a free £50 bet for good causes but unfortunately my horse was not placed! I shall therefore make a modest donation to charity myself.”

Grainne Hurst, Director of Corporate and Industry Affairs stated:

“I would like to thank Sir Roger taking the time to visit us ahead of the Grand National. The Grand National is one of the busiest times of the year in our shops where lots of people go to have a small flutter and enjoy the racing. The Grand National is a great sporting occasion which we all enjoy.”
