Gale's View Christmas 2021

December 18th 2021

I am acutely conscious of the fact while many have come through the pandemic relatively unscathed there are individuals and businesses that have suffered very greatly and we are doing our utmost to ensure that their needs are not overlooked:  if you are aware of anyone having a particularly difficult time, please do not hesitate to let me or my office know.

There is absolutely no doubt that we continue to owe a huge debt of gratitude to all of those who have been working on the front line – doctors, nurses, hospital ancillary staff, carers, the Police,  all of the Emergency Services  those who have supplied help or who have continued to keep the wheels turning throughout another very difficult year.

While we have experienced problems – some of them self-inflicted – I do believe that, notwithstanding the `Omicron variant`, we are emerging from the pandemic in much better shape than most (and I class myself as something of a ‘doom-monger’!) had predicted.

Nobody sensible is predicting anything other than a hard road ahead but I personally remain confident that the resilience, stoicism and courage of the British people will see us through to the ‘sunlit uplands’ that our children and our grandchildren have a right to inherit and to enjoy.

Suzy joins me, our family, and the Team at the Old Forge in wishing you a Happy Christmas and a healthy, peaceful and splendid Jubilee Year.
