 Yesterday I joined Maya Amangeldiyeva for the launch of her exhibition of art and the words of some of her volunteers at Beach Creative in Herne Bay.

Meanwhile buses and cars are being diverted and pubs and shops are losing business. A 3 day weekend of music is being organised in the village of Preston with a family friendly rave and great local bands such as Hullabaloo, Ozzie & the Uglies, Indi-3, The Who Are We and Decades Showband (amongst others). There is camping available and food and drink provided by local businesses.

 Suzy joins me, our family, and the Team at the Old Forge in wishing you a Happy Christmas and a healthy, peaceful and splendid year. |  Last night it was great to attend the awarding of the Freedom of the Parish of Acol, presented by the Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr Richard Steel.
These are the first recipients of the Freedom of The Parish of Acol. Congratulations to Shiela Bransfield, David Hayfield and Iris Osborne. Richly deserved recognition of their service to the village. |  Today we remember the life and service of Police Constable Jon Odell. P.C Odell was killed while on duty on Shottendane Road, Margate, on 19th December 2000. He will never be forgotten. |

 In the absence of Mr Speaker Hoyle, who has covid, the senior Deputy Speaker Dame Eleanor Laing (Chairman of Way’s and Means) has launched the start of the Westminster Christmas with the illumination of the tree in New Palace Yard.

 Last night it was good to join Birchington District Councillors Cllr George Kup and Cllr Reece Pugh with Parish Council Chairman Neville Hudson at the Royal British Legion - Birchington Branch Poppy Appeal Launch Concert in the Village Centre.

I met Kevin from Folkestone who has been officiating at Race for Life for more than 20 years and got to wish Joy Nock good luck as well as the Herne Bay Belles before the start of the 3k.
An incredible over £50,000 was raised for a very worthwhile cause. |

 I have heard Penny Mordaunt MP speak on many occasions and consider her address to North Thanet Conservative Association to have been one of her finest and quite exceptional in its stimulation, determination and moving personal testimony.
