Heroes Return – Funding Available to End of January 2012

North Thanet`s MP, Roger Gale, has been informed that the Big Lottery Fund has extended its “Heroes Return” project to 31st January 2012.

The Heroes Return 2 scheme provides lottery funding to help World War 11 veterans that saw active service to take part in commemorative visits (within the UK and overseas) to mark the anniversaries of events that led to the ending of WW2. War widows and widowers of veterans are also eligible for funding and carers and spouses can receive funding to travel with veterans.  Grants ranging from 3150 to £5,500, depending upon the number of participants and location, are available.

“Over £1 million more has been committed to this scheme” says Roger Gale “and I hope that any of the “old and bold” in my constituency or their surviving spouses who have not already done so will take the chance to make personal battlefront commemorative visits.  So far some 50,000 people have participated and gained great comfort and value from making the pilgrimages"
