During the session, attendees improved their understanding of eye conditions, and of alternative formats (such as Braille, large print and audio), and learnt how to guide. They also discussed what they’d need to consider when meeting blind and partially sighted constituents at a surgery appointment (such as the availability of public transport for travelling to the meeting, and the accessibility of the building in which the meeting is being held).

Sir Roger said: “This training session has proved to be an opportunity to learn a very great deal about sight loss, and the challenges facing blind and partially-sighted people, in a very short time”
