Primary School PE and Sports Premium – Gale welcomes PM`s commitment

North Thanet`s MP Sir Roger Gale has this (Thursday) morning welcomed the Prime Minister`s announced commitment to maintain the £150 million a year Primary PE and Sports premium which is provided directly to Primary Head Teachers to spend on sporting activities for their pupils.

“Sport is vital to the life of schools” says Sir Roger “because it encourages young people to be active and to lead healthy lifestyles, to make friends, to have fun and to learn the values of team-playing and competition. Learning how to win graciously , and, sometimes, how to lose with good humour, helps to nurture the character and skills that are essential to adult life. That is why the guarantee to continue this funding stream through until 2020, which enables Head teachers to plan ahead, is so very important”.
