Birchington School Visit

March 19th 2019

The Secretary of State The Rt Hon Damian Hinds came down to Thanet and Herne Bay to see the work that our local schools have been doing.

It was a chance for our local schools and their staff to promote the amazing work they have done, and keep doing in educating our children.

Ms Kath Barham (Headteacher of Birchington) said: It was a great honour to welcome Damian Hinds, the Secretary of State for Education and Sir Roger Gale Thanet North MP to Birchington CE Primary School. They spent time touring the buildings and grounds, looking at and discussing children’s work with them and talking with members of our School Council. It was a fantastic opportunity for our staff and pupils to show off many of the things that we are really proud of and the exciting education and opportunities that our school offers.

Secretary of State, Damian Hinds said: Thank you to Ms Barham and the staff and pupils of Birchington C of E Primary School for a wonderful visit last week. It was a pleasure to be shown round the school with Sir Roger Gale and George Kup, and see all the pupils and teachers in their delightful costumes for world book day.

Sir Roger Gale MP said: It was a pleasure to welcome Damian Hinds to Thanet to show him Birchington CE Primary, and Reculver, to see the schools and hear about the work the staff have been doing to help the development of the facilities and, most importantly, the pupils. It was refreshing to see such creative wall displays that clearly generate inspiration within the classrooms. We are very lucky to have such great schools here in Thanet and Herne Bay.
