Celebrating thirty-five years in the House of Commons (Election 9th June 1983) are, photographed this week, the ten surviving members (of 101 elected) of the 1983 Conservative intake of new members.

 

L-R (back row) Chris Chope, David Amess, Greg Knight, David Evennett, Henry Bellingham and (front row) Alastair Burt, Nicholas Soames, Michael Fallon, Edward Leigh and Roger Gale.

 

Of the “Survivors” four (Amess, Soames, Leigh and Gale) have seen continuous service and two (Leigh and Gale) are in the same seats as when first elected.

 

“Here`s to the next thirty-five years”!
